Objective:
To create a children-friendly board book in the Arabic language—designed for early readers and suitable for sale on e-commerce platforms.
Brief
We’re looking for a printer who can produce high-quality board books for children. The books will be sold online, with two different sizes and multiple variations in volume depending on demand essentially an on-demand model.
Challenges
- Starting from scratch, with no predefined specifications
- Determining the ideal book size to minimize paper wastage
- Finalizing the optimal number of pages for young readers
- Selecting the right paper and finish to ensure it is child-safe
- Ensuring durability to withstand rough handling and repeated use
Solution
We approached the project with both practicality and longevity in mind.
A custom size was developed to align perfectly with the digital print format, ensuring minimal wastage and maximum efficiency. For the substrate, we selected foodboard—making the book sturdy, safe, and well-suited for children.
All pages were laminated to protect against scratches and allow easy cleaning in case of spills. For binding, the choice was clear: layflat (K-binding), enabling the book to open seamlessly for a better visual experience and ease of use.
Rounded corners were added as an essential safety feature, making the final product completely child-friendly.
Outcome
The result was a thoughtfully crafted board book that met both functional and emotional expectations.
